We design new sulfur(VI) reagents to enable selective transformations in synthesis, working at the interface of inorganic main-group chemistry and organic methodology. Based at Freie Universität Berlin, supported by the Liebig Fellowship.

The question

What if every functional group on sulfur could be controlled at will?

Hexacoordinate sulfur(VI) species — SF₆ and its many substituted relatives — have long sat at the edge of practical synthesis: chemically rich, but difficult to access and derivatize selectively. Our group develops the gas-handling chemistry and derivatization routes that turn these species into usable tools, with a particular focus on nitrogen-containing S(VI)F derivatives and their applications.
